    internet cafes in Beijing

There are hundreds of internet cafes in Beijing. Perhaps even a few thousand. However from allmost all internet cafes, their address is unknown: on the internet as in the travel books. The Chinese government close regulary internet cafes after inspections.

When we stayed in the Harmony Hotel there was only one computer in the business center. But when we walked around in the neighbourhood of our hotel we saw an internet cafe. There were no signs in English and the windows were made from brown glass so we could have easily missed it. Inside were 20 computers.

The first time our children were allowed to use the computer in the internet cafe but afterwards we understand that this was forbidden by Chinese law. The rate in the internet cafe was only 4 Yuan/hour. In our hotel 60 Yuan/hour and often you had to wait till the computer was available. Or that someone else was waiting for you. There was no difference in the speed of the internet connection of the internet cafe compared to the hotel.
