Distance to the Beijing Railway Station is indeed 5 minutes walk. When we took the night train to Shanghai we walked with our suitcases to the station.

Hotel has a good Chinese restaurant on the groundfloor which is also the breakfast room. Opposite the hotel is a small supermarket.

The Harmony Hotel has a business center with one computer. Rate is 60 Yuan/hour and often the computer is occupied. Better is to go to the internetcafe around the corner (direction station). Price is much lower (4 Yuan/hour) and you don't have to wait. Children are not allowed in Chinese internet cafes.

Wangfujing, the main shopping street, is about 15 minutes walk away. Just cross the avenue (through a pedestrian tunnel and walk straight through. You will pass Wangfujing after 10 minutes. If you would walk another 10 minutes longer you end on the Tianman Square near the maingate of the Forbidden City.
