Jiuzhaigou, Panda Lake

    The Panda Lake lake got its name because panda bears are around this lake. (visitor park information; picture on the right).

    The average depth is 14 meters. The water level of the lake also changes largely because of karst funnels which are connected with an underwater river. The difference of the water level in high water season and low water season can be 5 meters.

    Groups of carp-like fishes are also gathering in the lake. Panda Lake is also one of the only two lakes in Jiuzhaigou that are frozen. In Jiuzhaigou are about 110 lakes.
