- Xishuangbanna Xishuangbanna is an autonomous prefecture in Yunnan Province near Myanmar and Laos. It includes 2 counties (Menghai, Mengla) and 1 county level city (Jinghong, the capital of Xishuangbanna). The area is famous for its tropical rainforests and the Dai minority. Total population of Xishuangbanna is allmost 1 million people.
- airport Jinghong Airport is located in Gajiu Town in Jinghong City. The airport is 6km from the city center. Flights to Kunming, Lijiang, Dali, Chengdu, Shanghai and Chiang Mai(Thailand). One-way flight from Kunming to Xishuangbanna cost between 340-990 Yuan (in 2010).
- train There is no train service (yet) to Xishuangbanna.
- bus There are 2 bus stations in Jinghong. The main bus station is at No.23 Mingzu Bei Lu with buses to Kunming, Dali and other parts of Yunnan. Scheduled travel time Kunming<->Jinghong is 14-16 hours but often the buses are delayed. About 10-15 buses leave daily from Kunming/Jinghong between 6.40 in the morning and 20.00 in the evening. Fare is 120 Yuan for a sleeperbus and 150 Yuan for an expressbus.
- Xishuangbanna Dai Park Located in Olive Basin, Menghan Township, 34km of Jinghong City. Park includes Buddhist pagodas, temples, forests and the traditional Dai culture. Inside the park are 5 real Dai villages
- Menglun Tropical Botanical Garden The garden is in Menglun Township, Mengla County. It's the largest tropical botanical garden of China with 4000 species of tropical plants.
- Primeval Forest Park Situated in a in a mountain valley, 8 km east of Jinghong. The park is 2000 hectares and has many scenic spots, animals, folklore and a hotel.
- Wild Elephant Valley Park Forest nature park located in the Mengyang Nature Reserve 48 km away of Jinghong. In the park live about 70 Asian elephants. Visitors can take the 2km long cable way for bird views over the forest.
- The Manting Park The oldest park in Xishuangbanna, (10 hectares) just 2km from Jinghong.
- Jingzhen Octagonal Pagoda Buddhist temple located on Jingzhen Mountain 14km of Menghai County.
- Water Sprinkling Festival Most important festival in Xishuangbanna. Three days celebration in April.
