River Viewing Park

River Viewing Park (in Chinese called ‘Wangjianglou Park’)is located on the banks of the Jinjiang River in Chengdu. The park was built during the Qing dynasty in memory of the famous female poet Xue Tao. She lived in the Tang Dynasty. We visited the park in August 2007. It had rained that day and there were not many visitors. Inside are statues and more than 100 kinds of bamboo. (the favourite plant of Xue Tao). A small electric bus rides through the park. Attraction in the park is the pool with hundreds of large goldfishes. Fish food is sold near the entry of the pool.

Location
Sichuan University is in front of River Viewing Park (Wangjianglou Park). The nearest metro is 3km from the park. Best transportation is bus line 19, 35 or 335. The stop nearby the park is Middle Gongyuan Road.
