The port of Qingdao is a deepwater port and the seventh-largest port in the world.
It has three port areas: the Old Port Area, Huangdao Oil Port Area and Qianwan New Port.
The main cargo in the port are: containers, coal, crude oil, grain and iron.

There are ferry boats between Qingdao and the surrounding islands Huangdao and Xuejiadao.
Also a ferry service to Incheon, Korea (19hours, www.weidong.com).
And a ferry to Shimonoseki, Japan (28hours, www.orientferry.co.jp).

Tsingtao beer is world famous and produced in Qingdao. The brewery was founded in 1903 by German settlers and is China's largest brewery.
Every year at June 23 there is the Qingdao International Beer Festival which attracts thousands of Chinese and foreign visitors.
