    Qingdao
    Qingdao is a large city on the Eastern coast between Beijing (880km) and Shanghai (550km). Korea is on the other side of the Yellow Sea, just a few hundred kilometers away. In the past Qingdao was a colony of Germany thats why there are European style houses. Nowadays Qingdao is a popular tourist city for its beaches and an important trading port. The famous Tsingtao Brewery is also in Qingdao. The urban population is about 2.75 million people.

    The Liuting International Airport is 23km from Qingdao.
    Flights to Taipei, Incheon, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, Nagoya and main cities in China mainland. There are 3 airportbus lines. Airportbus 1 (6.00-21.00) serves in general the North bus station, Radio/Fim/Television Building and the World Trade Center. Airportbus line 2 connects the airport with the North bus station and the train station. Line 3 rides along Haier Industrial Park, East Gate, South Korea, North Village and Hainiu Stadium. The airport shuttle bus is 20 Yuan. A taxi to Qingdao is about 100-150 Yuan depending the type, destination and time of travelling. Official website of the airport is www.qdairport.com.

    Qingdao Railway Station is the main train station.

    - Qingdao - Shanghai: day train (10h) and night train (20h)
    The fastest train from Qingdao to Beijing takes 4 hours and 23 minutes. Distance to Beijing is 819km. Fare for a soft seat first class is about 475 Yuan. A soft seat second class ticket is 315 Yuan. The fast train makes stops in Weifang, Jinan, Deshou East and arrives in Beijing South Station.

    bus
    Buses to Jinan, Taian, Yantai, Weihai and other cities depart from the Long Distance Bus Station near the railway station.

    port
    The port of Qingdao is a deepwater port and the seventh-largest port in the world. It has three port areas: the Old Port Area, Huangdao Oil Port Area and Qianwan New Port. The main cargo in the port are: containers, coal, crude oil, grain and iron.

    ferry
    There are ferry boats between Qingdao and the surrounding islands Huangdao and Xuejiadao. Also a ferry service to Incheon, Korea (19hours, www.weidong.com).
    And a ferry to Shimonoseki, Japan (28hours, www.orientferry.co.jp).

    Top five star hotels: Clearsea Arts Hotel, Sea View Garden Hotel, Shangri-La Hotel, InterContinental Qingdao and the Crown Plaza Hotel. Five star Huiquan Dynasty Hotel is facing First Bathing Beach: a standard room with sea view is around 610 Yuan. Four star Zhan Qiao Prince Hotel is near the beach as the railway station: a King room incl. breakfast is 260 Yuan.

    Tsingtao Brewery
    Tsingtao beer is world famous and produced in Qingdao. The brewery was founded in 1903 by German settlers and is China's largest brewery. Every year at June 23 there is the Qingdao International Beer Festival which attracts thousands of Chinese and foreign visitors.
