    Nanjing
    Nanjing is the capital city of Jiangsu Province and has an urban population of 5 million people. It has a rich history and is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China. The distance to Shanghai is 300km.

    airport

    Lukou International Airport is located 35km from the center of Nanjing and is one of the largest airports in China. International flights to Bangkok, Singapore and Seoul. Airport shuttle buses leave from the arriving hall to Zhonghuamen Distance Passenger Station in Nanjing. Many hotels have also bus services to/from the airport. A taxi to the airport is 100-125 Yuan.

    train
    The main train station is the Nanjing Railway Station in the North of the city. Fastest bullet trains with soft seat first class to:
    - Shanghai: 2h.17min - 111 Yuan (distance 300km)
    - Suzhou: 1h. 33min - 70 Yuan (distance 217km)
    - Hangzhou: 4h.14min - 187 Yuan (distance 504km)
    - Beijing: 7h.50min - 430 Yuan (distance 1160km)

    bus
    The main long distance bus station is near the train station.
    Travel time to: Suzhou (2h),Hangzhou (5-6h) and Wuhan (overnight bus,12 h). There are 4 buses from Shanghai Pudong airport to Nanjing about every 2 hours. Departure times: 11:20, 14:20, 16:40, 18:40. Travel time is about 5 hours. The fare is 122 Yuan.

    Nanjing Port is the largest inland river port in Asia. Yangtze river cruise ships make often a stop in Nanjing. Passengers can ship to Zhenjiang, Yangzhou and Nantong, Shanghai or upstream to Wuhu and Chongqing.

    Zhongshan Mountain National Park
    Zhongshan Park is the top attraction in Nanjing. It includes several famous attractions such as the Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen and the Memorial of the Nanjing Massacre. Dr. Sun Sun was a political leader who died in 1925. He is considered as the Father of Modern China. Other attractions in the Zhongshan Park are the Monk-Peak, the Ming Tomb and the Linggu Pagode. The park is located in the middle of Nanjing. It is large and you will need a full day to explore the whole park. Internal buses are running through the park. We took a taxi to Zhongshan Park and paid about 30 Yuan.

    Temple of Confucius
    The temple was originally constructed in 1034 and has been rebuild several times. Admission is 15 Yuan. The area around the Temple of Confucius is a very popular place in Nanjing. Lots of cheap local restaurants and shops. We took a taxi to get there. Metro station Sanshan Street is close to the area.
