    Getting Around

  • train

    • Train tickets can be bought only 4 days in advance. Most hotels have a ticketing desk where you can make a reservation.

  • Xian Xianyang International Airport is 40km from downtown Xian. It has domestic flights to all major cities in China. Also flights to Hong Kong and Japan. A shuttle bus operates between the airport and Xian. Operating time Shuttle Bus: 06:00 - 18:00. Price is 15 Yuan.
    Small shuttle buses are also driving to the city. Fare is higher than the regular shuttle bus.(25 Yuan) but you probably don't have to wait that long before it departs.

  • taxis

    • The start rate for the first 3 kilometers is 5 or 6 Yuan. An additional rate will be added for every kilometer more. A ride from the airport is about RMB 80-100 Yuan. Allways pay attention that the meter is running when you depart.

  • bus

    • The Xi'an bus station is opposite the train station. Many city buses depart from here to attractions like the Terracotta Warriors. Buses are the cheapest transportation but crowded.
