Dujiangyan Irrigation Project
Dujiangyan Irrigation is a water conservation works built around 256 BC. It’s about 55 kilometer from Chengdu. The governor of Shu (nowadays Sichuan) build the project together with his son. He channeled the water of the Minjiang River instead of building a dam. In the middle of the river he made a dike with the shape of a fish mouth.
It does not only protect against floodings but also brings water to the irrigation canals. Sichuan has therefore rich farmers land. We went with the local bus from Chengdu bustation to a stop near Dujiangyan Project. The last part (a few km) we took a mini bus.
