    Suzhou
    Suzhou is an ancient city with a long history located near Shanghai. It is renowned worldwide for its beautiful historic gardens. Population is about 1,5 million people.

    airport

    Suzhou has not an international airport. The nearest airports are Hongqiao Airport (85km) and Pudong International Airport (120km). Shuttle buses run hourly between both airports and Suzhou between 10.00 - 19.00/19.40. Fare is 50 Yuan at Hongqiao Airport, travel time about 1 hour 40 minutes. From Pudong Airport to Suzhou, bus fare is 82 Yuan/2 hours 30 minutes.

    Buses from Suzhou to Hongqiao Airport can be catched at the CEAG (China Easter Airlines Group) ticket office. Address is No.115, Ganjiang Xilu. If you must go to Pudong Airport: take the bus to Hongqiao Airport and then the No.1 shuttle bus. The main long distance bus station is the Suzhou North Bus Station. Location is East of Suzhou Railway Station.

    train
    Suzhou is about 90km from Shanghai. Many trains are running daily between Shanghai and Suzhou. With the highspeed train the journey is only 40 minutes. A soft seat first class for this train is 32 Yuan. Train tickets can be purchased on the railway station or booked in your hotel.
    - Suzhou - Wuxi : trains daily; journey takes 21min - 1h.20min (42km)
    - Suzhou - Changzhou : trains daily; journey takes 38min - 1h.23min (81km)
    - Suzhou - Hangzhou : trains daily; journey takes 2h.35min - 5h.22min (287km)

    taxi
    Start rate is 10 Yuan for the first 3 km. 2 Yuan/km will be added afterwards. Bicycle taxis ask different prices. One bicycle taxi picked us up from the street to the Administrator Garden for 3 Yuan (distance was about 1/1.5km). Often these drivers ask more money.

    Suzhou gardens
    The gardens in Suzhou attracts tourists worldwide and have a history of 1500 years. In 1997, the Suzhou classical gardens were listed as world cultural heritage by UNESCO Heritage Committee. The Humble Administrator's Garden is the largest of all classical gardens in Suzhou with 50.000 sq.m.
