    Getting Around

  • train
    Shenzhen'socation is at the crosspoint from all trains between Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Beijing. Train tickets can be bought only 4 days in advance. Trains run from 5:30am to 11:00pm. Shenzhen <-> Guangzhou train timetable

  • The airport is 32 km west of Shenzhen. One of the larger airports in China. Domestic and international flights. A shuttle bus operates between Shenzhen Airport and East Shennan Road in the city center.

  • Red taxis can go anywhere, green taxis are restricted to outside the SEZ, and yellow ones are restricted to the SEZ. Taxi rates start from 12.50 Yuan for the first 3 km and 2.4 Yuan for each additional km. At night fares are higher. Always beware that the meter is running.

  • boat
    Shekou is the largest port within the Shenzhen SEZ and around 20 km away from Shenzhen downtown.
    -From Shekou departs the ferry boat to Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
    -Fast jet-cats depart daily to Hong Kong and Macau. An Economy class ticket to Hong Kong Airport is HK$230
    -There is also a boat to Haikou on Hainan Island (18 hours journey)

  • bus
    The long distance bus station is next to the train station. The bus station for Guangzhou is to the east of the railway station. The bus trip from Shenzhen to central Hong Kong takes about 1,5 hours with departures throughout the day. These buses to Hong Kong depart from next to the Shangri-la Hotel.

    Zhongxin plaza is a big shopping mall. Here you will find not only boutiques, supermarket, Pizza Hut, KFC and Haagen Dazs but also a group of dapper bars.
